Old Father Time

That undefeated foe

Yielding to no one

Accomplished and bold

 

Yearning for the past

In his presence, a mistake

His will is absolute

Your memories, he will break

 

But old Father Time

Is a misunderstood one

Looking back on time

Is only one side of the play

 

The past is just that, past

But there’s yin to the yang

For hope for the future

Is a gift that he brings

 

So old Father Time

As formidable as he his

Also provides hopes and dreams

As his benevolent gift
