I have seen a dream
For quite a few nights
A dream I welcome
For it offers a place of insight
When I drift off
Into the dream mentioned above
I find myself in a clearing
Surrounded by a misty grove
For the first few nights
Confusion set in
The fog was thick
And potential horrors hid within
After finally adjusting
To this new realm
I was able to sit in silence
And find a tranquil calm
Thoughts played in my head
Of days long past
Memories that were made
From days that couldn’t last
The more I focused on the good
The fuzzier the visions became
Like the memories were an animal
That couldn’t be tamed
Finally I stopped
And let the memories flow
And that’s when I found peace
As the wind came with a gentle blow
Soon, the grove fades
Like it does every night
When the alarm goes off
And I can see the sunlight
The memory is there
But the full picture is hazed
As if my mind wasn’t there
But was stuck in some daze
The grove is but an illusion
For what I have needed
Calm, intentional reflection
Is the idea that has been seeded
The grove will no longer return
The idea of it is well sated
For it told me to enjoy my life
Before it has fully faded
